Prottoy Unnayan Sangstha
Basic Information
Prottoy Unnayan Sangstha is a female-led, non-governmental, non-political, and non-sectarian social development organization established in 1998, aiming to assist the poor, particularly disadvantaged and victimized women and minority communities who often face deprivation in low-developing countries. Prottoy was founded to address development issues concerning women, children, and minorities in society, ensuring their empowerment through gender-transformative, community-led programming. The organization maintains strong working relationships with national and international development agencies while managing diverse projects across health, education, skills development, income generation, microcredit, agriculture, shelter, and social and cultural development with support from donors, government, and internal resources. Since its inception, Prottoy has successfully implemented projects with domestic and foreign donors, notably organizing the 2015 National Youth Conference with the Honorable Minister of Youth and Sports, where it received the Best Youth Organization Award, reflecting its commitment to youth development and social progress. Prottoy’s work has resulted in strengthened women’s leadership, enhanced community resilience, and meaningful contributions to peace and social cohesion in some of Bangladesh’s most vulnerable areas, aligning its efforts with national priorities and contributing directly to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 6: Refers to Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduce Inqualities) SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
